Good evening all,
I hope you enjoyed our Tornado Cup Rnd 1 race meet today at Daylesford...hopefully it’s a sign of what’s to come in that series!..but firstly... I am sorry for the late rundown of our last race meet, Daylesford Round 5 of the Championship, but better late than never I suppose...and how was that drive from JMac in the Classic? Never looked like losing! And the A1 going to Veal when it looked for all money like a washout! A lot has happened since then 😋 Anyway, back to our Round 5 fixture at Daylesford... Firstly, I’d like to thank all our volunteers and partners at Daylesford who took the time to get our race meet up and running. From our lap scorers and steward to track preppers and pit organisers ...it all adds up to get is running each week. Secondly, I’m afraid I didn’t catch much of the racing on the day as I had several commitments which prevented me from viewing most of it. Whilst I know there are several sites that I can watch each race on, I also have an extremely busy life at this time of year and I just haven’t been able to get across all that happened. I did watch most of the finals, but this post will just focus on the winners...it breaks my heart not to give the racing the write up i feel it deserves, but it can’t be helped I’m afraid. So, let’s get it out of the way early....ultimately, the track on the 19th didn’t reach the normally excellent surface that Daylesford normally provides. Unfortunately, the track dried out very early. Even with some water during the day, it didn’t handle all our races well and every class felt the effects. But, it was a track and we raced it as well as we could! In our novice class, the first two heats would be won by Stuart with Roman coming second in both. The result was reversed in the third heat. Stuart would start pole with Roman second and Leo third. On a dusty track, the order would not change throughout. Well done to the v50! In the Jnr Res. Class, Jed would get the jump out of second on the grid and run away with the win from the V1 of chase. Holly would do the same in an all the way win in the second heat from Ryder. Chase would lead from position 1 from the drop of the green to the chequered flag in heat 3 ahead of the v69. Points were tight in this one with Holly starting out of 1, Chase out of 2, Jed 3 amd Ryder 4. Holly would steer the v80 to victory with Jed second and Chase 3rd, but despite the one lane track, it was a decent race with the v66 and V1 pushing holly to the finish! In our 120 open class, heat 1 saw the v27 of Jaime ster it home to victory. Logan was second from Arthur in third. The second heat would have Arthur take the lead in the third lap from the v64. This is how they finished with the v14 in 3rd. Logan would win the third heat from pole from Jake amd Jamie. It was close in this one! Only 4 points separated the top four cars after heats! The order would be 55, 27, V1 and 14. In what was the race of the day, even on a dry dusty track! As they settled, Logan would lead from Arthur and Jamie with the 64 and 14 close behind. The V1 would go to the rear after an incident and Logan would lead from pole until the v27 of Jamie took the lead on the 17th lap. The last few laps saw a few positional changes with the top few cars being within striking distance. But it would finish 27, 55, 14. A great race on a one lane track! Our premier class, the senior 160s. Heat 1 saw Jemma lead all the way from pole with Jayden getting past Zoe on the last lap to secure second place. Heat 2 was much the same, Chevy leading all the way with Jayden getting past Chelsea for second....except he came from 8th on the grid! The biggest move of the day! Our third heat saw the V1 of Jett get the jump from p2 and lead all the way. The v43 and v45 would take second and third. Unfortunately, as the 160s are normally last on track, the track had become so one lane, it was always going to be tough to gain an advantage on a car in front. The outside lane was always going to be disadvantaged. Chevy, topping the points, started pole and took a well earned victory. Out of three, Jemma followed closely behind, taking second place. Zoe amd Jayden would trade places a couple of time with the v4 eventually securing 3rd place. Great job to all our winners, place getters and everyone for competing hard each week! Keep an eye out tomorrow for the tornado results 👍🏻 Thanks all
