G’day to all JQMV members, family and friends,
I hope your AGP preparations are well under way. Tis another wet day at Avalon today, but, it does look like we will have some favourable conditions come Saturday, which is great news for everyone. This post today is to give everyone some amazing news that has come across our desks here at JQMV headquarters!... Due to some excellent wheeling and dealing from one of our hardworking members, we have been lucky enough to secure a visit to our Little Avalon track, from two very prominent and high profile racers at our upcoming Australian Grand Prix race meet. We would like to thank Andy Pearce, on behalf of all members, for being able to make this to happen! 👍🏻 If you visit Avalon’s Facebook page often or are a keen follower of what is happening at the track, you will know that on Saturday evening after our race meet, the 75th running of the Victorian Speedcar Championship is being run. Our very own Zoe Pearce’s Dad is nominated and looking to be a front runner on the night, but he obviously has some stiff competition. Not least of all, is three drivers hailing from the US of A. Luckily for us, Andy has offered the chance , and ultimately secured a visit to our track, from two of those drivers! So, at Junior Quarter Midgets Victoria, we welcome Shannon McQueen and Michelle Decker who will both be racing for the Griffiths Motorsport team in the V75c and V75ok, respectively. Whilst they won’t quite be there for the start of our proceedings on Saturday, hopefully they get to see some good racing from all our classes during the day, and...they have offered to present trophies at the conclusion of our finals!! Hopefully, they can offer some words of wisdom to our young drivers and are a good example of what they can aspire to be! Thanks again to Andy and his team. It should be an exciting day and I hope you are all looking forward to it as much as we are! See you all on Saturday. Thanks, The committee *Shannon McQueen is from Bakersfield, California, and used to race junior quarter midgets! Shannon is currently in Australia to compete in the Victorian Championship and, later this month, the Australian Title for speedcars. She has had many successes in her racing career in the US. She was the 2011 BCRA Champion and 2012 USAC Western State champion. Shannon obviously knows how to steer her midget(speedcar) and she is the first female nominee for our national title. *Michelle Decker, from Guthrie, Oklahoma, is the second of our lady racers competing in the Vic and Australian Champions this month. She, too, has tasted success throughout her racing career back home. This includes a 3rd and 5th placing in the POWRi West Midget series, State Fair Championship in 2008 and a Western State Feature win one 2014.
