14 kids took the track this week end for the time honored Australian Quarter Midget Grand Prix . Track prep was again the talking point with a superb track for fast and wide racing . 4 heats for the three classes , Novice B had Jake Bradley , Leah Balcombe and Hudson Moorfoot. All raced cleanly and put in some good laps . Jake again took a clean sweep of the heats . Novice A saw 7 cars take to the track with Arthur Hutchinson and Rusty Ponting both taking two heat wins . Stand outs where Koby O'Shannassy and Jacko Peachey who both showed improved speed . New comer Jay Parkinson also got into the mix of it , having some good battles with Jamie Balcombe . Bailey Hutchinson again showed he's got it with some good passing on the high line . 120cc saw 4 cars chase points for the trophy final . Jayden Lock and Chelsea Balcombe showed a clean set of heels to Kane Parkinson and Blake Balcombe.
After a BBQ lunch and some set up changes for a few cars it was time to get the finals under way . Novice B racer Jake Bradley lead from start to finish and won back to back finals . Jake will be moving up to Novice A next meeting and we wish him good luck . Minors placing where Leah Balcombe and Hudson Moorfoot who both continue to improve with more laps under there belt . Novice A saw Arthur Hutchinson lead the pack away and at half race distance Rusty Ponting put on a inside pass on Arthur in turn one and two , side by side they raced down the back straight with Arthur getting into turn three first and then pulling away to take the win . Rusty Ponting followed him home in second with Koby O'Shannassy on the gas for third . Jacko Peachey showed more speed with a fourth placing followed by New comer Jay Parkinson and Jamie Balcombe . Feature Class of the day was the 120cc final and it was Jayden Lock that was all class and took the win . Ever improving Chelsea Balcombe show she has what it takes to keep up with the boys taking second . Blake Balcombe chased his sister all race and finished on the podium with third , while first start Kane Parkinson got some good laps in and finished fourth . All the kids have chocolates to sell to help raise money for the club , so please support them . Our next meeting is good Friday at Avalon for the Norm and Hazel Drew Memorial race . Trophies for all kids which will be presented infield on the night during the Sprintcars. Hopefully a demo run on the Kart Track too. Stay tuned !!
