JQMV Update: New Licensing Process and Registration Update for 2026/27 Season
Junior Quarter Midgets Victoria (JQMV) would like to advise drivers and families of important changes to licensing and car registration ahead of the 2026/27 season. This season, JQMV will continue to handle car registrations, including the issuing of log books and registration stickers. Families are encouraged to get their cars "green sheeted" as early as possible — ideally at the Belkblast season launch, or at the Little Avalon or Horsham green sheet and practice days, ahead of their first race meeting. Drivers who can't make it to one of these dates will need to get it done on a raceday. To aid planning for this, please advise your meeting's nominations coordinator beforehand to allow extra time and get there early before your first meeting to get this process completed. Initial planning is strongly recommended. The biggest change for the 2026/27 season is to the JQM licensing pathway. Drivers needing to obtain or renew their licence will now need to apply for a club membership through an affiliated JQMV track before applying for their licence through Speedway Australia. This change initiated by Speedway Australia and supported by JQMV is to help push members and membership funds back towards the tracks that run quarter midgets. Members of tracks are then also more likely to support working bees and other club events, further increasing the impact of the change. The affiliated JQMV tracks are: Blue Ribbon Raceway, Horsham Mid-Western Speedway Darlington Nyora Raceway "Official Page" Laang Speedway Club Drouin Speedway Daylesford Speedway JQMA - Avalon Little Avalon Speedway Wangaratta NAGAMBIE SPEEDWAY Drivers and families are encouraged to get in touch with their preferred affiliated club as soon as possible to begin the membership process and avoid delays ahead of race season. JQMV single and family social memberships will continue to be available. Fees information and forms will become available after the club's annual general meeting at the end of July. Further updates on registration and licensing will be shared via the JQMV Facebook page with forms coming soon too.
